Is it just me or are girls who stand with their legs crossed (one in front of the other) really hot? It has nothing to do with the post below, but I've just recently been attracted to that look for some reason.
Finally had a moderately standable temperature today. It felt a little bit cool with light wind, sort of like Vancouver, complete with the looks-like-rain-but-really-just-a-tease weather. I've been bumming around in Paris for a couple of weeks now, and I gotta say I really dig it, it's sort of the thing I can't get tired of (Paris, that is, not the bumming around). Started swimming again, which is great in the ridiculously warm weather. Makes me miss a little bit of Canada, but not so much that I don't see myself living here. Whenever people ask me "when's the next time you're gonna be young in Paris?", I just want to tell them "THE YEAR AFTER NEXT, how about that? And I'm always going to be young, so save it." This is just a city I can't get sick of, even if I don't completely understand their language, their logic just speaks to me.
Inter-racial dating, like homosexuality, are so accepted here people don't even notice anymore. It's differnet from North America, where people still sort of cast a sideways glance, but then pretend to be looking at something behind you when you catch their gaze. Also, people hold eye contact here, even if they don't know each other, just for a second longer. Seeing how people watching is Parisians favorite sport (aside from making customers wait unnecessarily, that is), I'm not greatly surprised, but am quite happy to find it so. Makes them seem more trustworthy. I think I'm going to take a couple of weeks in the beggining of August and go down south.
I need more sleep. I just read the new Harry Potter book in one sitting. No breaks, nothing. Started at around 10 and kept going. By about 3 in the morning I felt tired but it was just getting to the action, so I couldn't put it down anymore. By the time I was done it was already 5 o'clock, but I was so stunned from the ending (someone died, can't tell you who, you gotta read it) I couldn't really sleep, so I just stayed up. Ended up having lunch at Spoon Food and Wine, a great international cusine restaurant. I wasn't immensely impressed by the food, since it consists of flavours from North America, Asia, and West European, all of which I've eaten growing up. One of the appetizers included shrimp dumplings and I couldn't help crack up.
Ok, enough rambling, just wanted to share a glimps of life here.
cheers
